Current Assignments
Narrative Drawing: Due Wednesday, June 17
This assignment challenges you to create a drawing that tells a story in a style and medium of your choice. The narrative drawing you create could be based on developing one of the ideas you came up with in the 15 Drawings in 15 Days assignment, or you could take your narrative idea from literature, mythology, social issues, historical events, current events, personal experience, family history or your imagination.
You can either create your drawing in the form of one large fully developed 18" x 24" artwork or through the form of a comic book done on at least four single-sided pieces of sketchbook sized paper.
In the YouTube video below, artist Davis Jien talks about his approach to creating a narrative artwork.

Linear Perspective: Due Wednesday, May 6
This assignment is a series of drawing exercises that explore one-point and two-point linear perspective, an important drawing technique that artists use to make things look three dimensional. I have attached a PowerPoint to show you some examples and get you thinking a bit about creating a sense of depth in a drawing. Recognizing that you may not have access to a printer, a copy of the Linear Perspective assignment booklet was mailed to your mailing address where it arrived on Tuesday, April 21, or Wednesday, April 22. The assignment booklet can also be found below. I am expecting that the booklet will be completed by Wednesday, May 6.
